This tab contains all options dealing with the app's appearance, how previews are created, and how often the index is updated.
General
Start DEVONsphere Express automatically at login, toggle live updating of results, and hide the menu automatically.
Start at login: Check to start DEVONsphere Express automatically when you log in.
Live update: Check to let DEVONsphere Express update its result list live; uncheck to start searches manually and only on demand.
Search while typing: Check to let DEVONsphere Express begin searching while you type. When unchecked DEVONsphere Express starts searching not before you press ↩︎.
Automatically hide menu: Check to hide DEVONsphere Express' menu when switching to another window.
Keep in front: Check to keep the detatched DEVONsphere Express panel always in front of other windows or applications.
The Live update and Automatically hide menu options can be changed temporarily in the menu, too.
Appearance
Modify DEVONsphere Express' appearance to your needs.
Show icon preview: Check to show little previews for results; uncheck to show only generic icons.
Show additional details: Check to show additional information about a result in a second line. This makes the list appear more crowded but gives you more information at a glance.
Create Previews
Choose how you would like DEVONsphere Express to generate previews of web pages.
Directly: Check to have DEVONsphere Express create web page previews. This gives you high quality previews but takes a bit longer as DEVONsphere Express has to download and render each page.
Via DEVONtechnologies.com: Check to use our external web service for generating web page previews. Faster but results in lower quality previews. The service is only used to generate thumbnails for external websites and therefore only URLs, e.g., of similar web pages, are submitted.
Update Index
DEVONsphere Express needs to keep an index of all your documents, email messages, and other files in order to work. Choose how often you would like DEVONsphere Express to update its index from Manually to Automatically and click Update Now to update the index immediately. Automatically updates the index as soon as files or folders are added to, modified in or removed from the indexed/watched locations, usually with a delay of a few minutes (to balance impact on the performance of your computer).
Updating the index needs beween a few seconds and an hour depending on the number of files to index, the available memory, and the processing power of your computer.
Hotkey
Click Click to record shortcut to record a global key combination for opening DEVONsphere Express' menu. Click the X in a circle to remove the chosen shortcut and record a new one.
